Last week, I spoke with Rachel DeAlto and a panel of seasoned experts in their respective fields at the annual Shecky’s Girls Night Out event. One of the perks of what I do for a living is that I’m able to reach an audience of real women that want to learn how to really understand fashion and beauty for their everyday lifestyles. I taught two different workshops for four days and I thoroughly enjoyed each and every moment of it.
One of the workshops focused on “First Date Night Looks.” I featured pieces from Forever 21, Ann Taylor LOFT, Limited, and Kmart Fashion. These pieces are all affordable and available at their local shops and malls and I wanted to give the ladies a system that would work for them- a wardrobe that they didn’t have to extend their budgets for and still stay comfortable.
I reiterated to the audience time and time again that a “first date” shouldn’t be so pressure/stress inducing. It should be fun and relaxed- the two shining qualities that men look for when they’re about to meet you for the first time. If you’re in confined clothes that are too tight or overly sexy, not only are you going to be showing the wrong message, but you yourself aren’t going to be paying attention to him, rather if your hemline is riding up or if you can even walk around town with your 6-inch stilettos. Wear pieces that flatter your body shape and things that are comfortable without looking frumpy. A dark wash pair of jeans are always a go and gorgeous colored tops- can’t go wrong. Never wear heels that you wouldn’t normally walk around in and opt for shoes that are also model in heel height, too.
The following week, I was asked to be interviewed for one of my favorite new websites, Luvocracy at my favorite tea parlor in the West Village. I even talked about the website during my workshops and how it’s such a helpful platform for shoppers and lifestyle enthusiasts to create and curate their own lists. I can’t wait to show you the interview on their site, but in the meantime, check out my page by clicking on the image below.
And lastly, I swung by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics to see my favorite girl, Francesca (who also happens to be the face of the brand) to check out their newest collection of Lip Tars and nail polishes, aptly named Sci-Fi Lullabies.
How cool is their home page image?
Fran looks so gorgeous and I love that shade she’s wearing on her lips on both the ad and in my Instagram. According to one of the makeup artists from OCC, you can wear Lip Tar as a highlighter on your cheekbones and nose for more pigmented luminescence and color. (Definitely going to be trying that the next time I go out!)
WHEW!! That’s been my past two weeks in a post, and I have a few more exciting things coming up.. including a shopping event in SoHo next week! Keep you posted, and love you so much.
